Relax and Refresh
The warm California sun warms Leonard Lake to a perfect temperature for swimming in the summer. In the cooler winter periods the lake becomes home for numerous waterfowl, and otters.
Leonard Lake is entirely free of noise and light pollution. Visitors enjoy undimmed stars, and moments of tranquil silence.
Hiking
Miles of hiking trails cross Leonard Lake Reserve’s 3840 acres. Starting from the houses at the south end of the Leonard Lake, visitors can choose a variety of hiking trails to experience the beauty and diversity of the landscape.
For a shorter hike, visitors can take a stroll through the old growth forest right in their back yard. Cool off in a fire carved cave under an ancient tree, read a book in the Cathedral, a ring of old growth Redwood trees a short walk from the lake.
For longer hikes, use marked trails to visit Memorial Grove. Hiking through the forest and past alternating sections of chaparral, the hike ends with a spectacular view of the surrounding hills.
